It is so great how working with patterns can then help in the design work of a flourished calligraphy piece.

Challenge #121

Took time today to play with the challenge for this week.

This week's tangle was created by Mary Kissel, CZT - and you can see the step outs for this tangle on her blog HERE.

While at Random Arts in Saluda, NC - our bi-weekly group shared some patterns with 3 new folks. It is such a joy to have a place to go to be inspired and share creative juices. It is delightful that at each session another newbie shows up. Thanks to Jane this group keeps plugging along.

World Peace

Following up on using the sphere that I am enjoying so much. Also, saw on someone's post (of course, now I can not find it to make a link :( ) the use of an earthy tone paper with shading in carbon pencil and white pencil. Love the look. So here is my first attempt. I'm going to play on a few more . . . But for now . . . get the play on world peace/piece? could not resist.

Ran across a blog with images using a sphere. Really liked the look. So I decided to give it a try. This is the 3rd image I created. It is the one I am most pleased with the outcome. The main pattern, 'Tuxedo', was designed by LeeAnn, a.k.a Ledenzer. It is the Diva challenge #112 for this week. It is not a pattern that I normally would have tried out, but that is why the challenge was tempting. There are 6 steps to this basic pattern, again not something I would normally be drawn to. While the basic pattern is there, I did have to make some alterations. I also shaded the final piece, something I rarely do. So a great challenge! Think I will go play some more.

Spring? around the corner

Contemplating what is next . . . shade it or full color?
Such a dilemma! Any thoughts?
