Well it is Friday and I finished it yesterday. I was so not happy with this. Perhaps it was the challenge of someone else constraining my creativity. Having to work within the design of someone else was not comfortable, so not my happiest of tangles.
But . . . I signed up for an exchange where you make a mosaic of a 3 x 3. So, this was the perfect one to cut up!

Color Mandala

I made this mandala with Zentangles (Zendala) perhaps a month ago.

I wanted to use only the patterns which were introduced to folks at a wonderful retreat for creative souls. I finally took the time to give it color. I have been wanting to create my own color wheel for some time, so this looked like the perfect project. I used a variety of color pencils, but really like my set of woodless colour pencils by Koh-i-noor. I used a color blender on the outer ring of color and a white pencil on the smaller color wheel. Still debating if I will add color to the inside white area.

Here is the computer inversion of the wheel:

Another project that I completed with the idea of color wheel was my entry for the Graceful Envelope Contest in 2008. I love mailing in an envelope when the creative juices are flowing with the theme - which has not happened since 2008. Just thought the connection was worth sharing:

Challenge 22

I got a little help from a student in the class I taught yesterday on Uncial at Starving Artist.
Since the student only had a slight idea about tiles, I thought it would be without any preconceived ideas and a fresh string.  I never got to the Morris challenge a few weeks back, so I thought I would add some touches of Morris in this tangle. BTW - I really wanted to do several 'Morris' tiles and had done some looking on the internet for inspiration, but just ran out of time. Still looking forward to working on something sometime!

Zentangle Logo

Our wonderful Lutheran camp in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina has a simple logo . . . well, I took some liberties with it and did some zentangling.

Royal Challenge

This week's Diva Challenge is based on
the Royal wedding.
My inspiration was all of the wonderful, wild, sophisticated hats that the British ladies dawn upon their heads.

and here are the real hats . . .

Spent the weekend at Lutheridge - a wonderful retreat center in Western NC. The four day retreat was for enjoying your creative side in visual, music, poetry, whatever your interest. I was blessed to spend time helping with a Zentangle station and workshop. I had a few exciting 'Aha' moments.
First one, someone (George :o) realized that my -
is still read as ZEN when turned sideways!!!
How fun is that! Not planned, but grand!
Next I learned how to do this -

I know many of you know how to do this . . . and I have understood 'paradox' for a long time . . . but I finally SAW the squares and triangles that make up the 'string' to put the numerous paradoxes into.

and finally, I had time to finish a Zendala -

At some point I want to add color! But it is off to the Diva's Challenge!

Royal Challenge

I'm working on my tangle for this week's Diva challenge. While googling for some images to help inspire me . . . well, I came across this photo:

Is that a crazy Zentangle outfit or what???
