flourishing is tangling?

So what do you think? Are these offhand flourishing pieces cousins of ZIAs? When I took the class with Maria on Zentangling with a pointed pen at IAMPETH, I just loved how the two could work together! Another idea bouncing around in my head - to do a tile with a pointed pen using some of the new patterns. But until time allows . . .

the wheels are turning

You know when you are surfing the internet, and one thing leads to another? Well, I follow a fun blog about paper crafts which lead me to look into paper quilling aka paper filigree. I remember doing this with my mom and sister when I was growing up. I really enjoyed it. But what folks are doing with it now - fantastic. Such as:

Then I ran across some letters! Oh my! My mind  is racing with the idea of combining quilling with letters and Zentangle Inspired Art. I have seen so many Zentangle fabric piece, but I don't want to drift off into the sewing and quilting realm (although it would be great fun.) I have also seen so much with Zentangle and beads - again exciting but too removed from my first love of calligraphy and letters. So, the thought of letters, Zentangles and paper filigree is filling my head with projects! Once I complete my last 195 + 220 envelopes, look out! I've already received my paper supplies from my ebay purchase! So until I can post my own . . . check these out!

Warning - this may just hook you! I would love to see what other Zentanglers come up with by using paper quilling and their tangles!
